Spotlight – Tin Roof Farms Events – A New Wedding Venue Bringing Elegance to Aiken

Although not entirely new, COVID put a damper on a newcomer to the wedding venue in Aiken scene. Tin Roof Farms, purchased in 2016, was originally bought by the Gibbens family to build as a place to hunt, play, and house a few farm animals. As they began to clear land, their son, and now daughter-in-law, commented about how nice the property was, and dreamed of how it could be used for something so much grander.

Wedding Plans in Motion

After their son’s engagement things just snowballed from there. Their engagement spot is where the Chapel now resides. Soon after their engagement in February of 2018, construction began with a close timeline of November 3, 2018. That was the date that their guests would arrive to celebrate their nuptials. They completed nearly all the facilities requirements in time for the wedding, where 300 of their guests attended under the chapel oaks in front of the chapel.

Rolling Up Their Sleeves to Build A New Wedding Venue

A fair amount of the work was completed with the owners rolling up their sleeves, along with close family and friends. They did most of the heavy lifting themselves on the weekends when they could squeeze in the time. It was a grueling process, but worth every painstaking moment. After the wedding was over, they took a long vacation to recoup. Initially, the Giddens hadn’t given much thought about what they would do with the venue, or how they would rent it out. When the pictures of the wedding hit social media, however, there was a rash of inquiries. And all the excitement spurred their ambitions to make it a full-time wedding venue. They saw the potential to allow people could relish in the fruits of their labor.

Nearly Booked Solid Until COVID Hit

In December of 2018, they were touring a minimum of eight to ten brides on the weekends with absolutely no pricing structure, or even an idea, in mind. They weren’t in it for the money or the investment; they were in it to watch marriages begin in the serenity of what they had built with their own hands. By 2019, the venue was half-booked, and 2020 was shaping up to be even more prosperous, but then COVID hit. Now that things are on the road to recovery, they are looking forward to beginning the celebrations that warmed their hearts, family, and new home venue.
