Wedding Checklist 101 – Your REAL Guide to Wedding Planning

It is the post-engagement season and that means that many of those couples who said “yes” will now be scrambling to plan one of the biggest days of their life. Although weddings don’t come with an instruction manual, there are tons of books and resources out there that will help you get your plans in order and keep everything in check. So what is our wedding checklist about? Our wedding catering in Aiken service decided that we would do a personal checklist that involves what you need to do just for you!

Breathe Deeply

Your day will be special because it is surrounded by love. Try to remember that you aren’t throwing a party for people to judge; you are inviting people to be witnesses to your love and commitment to one another. Try not to sweat the millions of small things that people mull over. After you say “I do” and the guests have full bellies, it is all just history. The only takeaway that people will have is that you looked happy, so don’t just look it; be it!

Forget the Extras

It is so easy to get caught up in the moment when planning a wedding. The greatness and elegance of a wedding ceremony won’t be found in place cards and party favors; it is in the graciousness that you show your guests. Spend less time worrying about material things and more time giving your guests time with you. After all, they are there to see you – not your pretty floral arrangements!

Cut Down on Your Guest List

It is amazing how inviting one person can quickly come with an obligation for ten more. Try to remember that it is your day and if anyone is going to get upset that you didn’t invite them… well, let them be upset. You don’t have to extend your party to the world and everyone in your life; make it more intimate and get the most out of a small group. You can always hold another reception for non-family members and close friends. No one is going to miss an after-party, and it can be as casual as a kegger at your home post-honeymoon.

Don’t Succumb to Pressure

Some of us tend to think realistically, then there are those who have big ideas and bigger wallets. You don’t have to keep up with the Joneses; they did their own thing. Again, your wedding isn’t about judging how your plating looked or whether your wedding cake was two layers or three. It is about giving your heart and soul to the one you love with loved ones there to witness it.

Don’t Make Emotional Decisions About Your Wedding Catering in Aiken

The hardest thing to do is to stop yourself before getting caught up in the moment. Sure, you are excited; yes, you want to make your wedding day special; and no, you do not have an endless budget. If you give into impulse, so will your finances. And, before you know it, the down payment on a house is taking a back seat. Be honest: would you rather have a nice wedding or a place to live? Thought so!

As the new year ends, many couples engaged couples will be heading for the altar. You will find a ton of wedding books, journals, checklists, and lists in general. We get it; those things are very important. But what is really important is that you enjoy your day because that is what it is: your day. If you get so wrapped up in the details and pleasing everyone else, you will forget the most important person, you (and your partner). At Catering by the Deft Chef, we work with our couples to design a moderately-priced menu that is maximally awesome. Contact us today to reserve your date!
